Licensed Vocational Nurse (Urgent Care - Weekends)

West Ventura Medical Clinic is seeking an LVN to oversee our Urgent Care.
Job Purpose: In accordance with the Vocational Nursing, California Code of Regulations, provides safe and competent professional nursing knowledge and skills under the supervision of a licensed physician or registered nurse.

Duties:
- Execute medical orders.
- Complete data collection; take part in care planning, intervention, and evaluation of care.
- Maintain effective and continuous communications with physicians, patients and staff.
- Provide patient education and advocacy.
- Assist with patient hygiene, mobility, ambulation, and nutrition functions.
- Perform diagnostic tests, quality control and quality assurance activities.
- Prepare and administer medications (including oral, subcutaneous, and intramuscular).
- Administer prescribed treatments.
- Blood withdrawal after successful completion of an approved California Vocational Nurse Board certification course.
- Intravenous infusion after successful completion of an approved California Vocational Nurse Board certification course.
- Document timely and legibly, including the delivery of medications, vaccinations, diagnostic tests and results, and treatments.
- Demonstrate competence with immunization, PPD testing, age specific, cultural, infection control, safety, pain management, and BLS competencies, and/ or other unit specific competencies.
- Participates in process improvement activities, ambulatory care and hospital committees, and/ or policy and procedure development.
- Promotes efficiency and safety in clinic flow and clinic operations.
- Orient and train staff.
- Share information with staff.
- Proactively seeks and update professional knowledge. Completes continuing education requirements.
- Comply and keep current with accreditation standards and federal, state and local regulatory requirements.
- Other duties as assigned.
Skills/Qualifications:
- Active and unrestricted California Board of Vocational Nursing license.
- Current Basic Life Support Certification.
- Experience with electronic medical records and standard PC Software applications preferred.
- Bilingual in English/Spanish preferred.
Education/Experience:
- Graduate of an accredited Vocational nursing program with a diploma of completion.
