Tips for Healthy Living
At first making healthy choices can seem overwhelming, and you may not know where to begin. However, making health conscious decisions doesn’t have to be difficult! It can be as easy as taking a walk outside instead of watching TV. You can also take your kids to the park instead of taking them to the movies. Small differences in your day to day routine can have a huge impact on your overall health.
Around the office we all have different ways that we get out, and get active. Although most of us do love the beach. We are in Ventura after all! We hope to inspire some of you to make some healthy choices by sharing some of the things we enjoy doing to stay active and lead healthy lives.

We are so excited to welcome Dr. Chin to our practice! She will be servicing the community through our Urgent Care. During this week's segment of Tips for Healthy Living, we will be sharing some of the activities that Dr. Chin enjoys doing to lead a healthy and active life.
Dr. Chin enjoys spending her time outside doing activities such as hiking, but during the cold days that have now arrived in Ventura County, she uses her home elliptical to exercise. Many people prefer home exercises because they are always accessible, and great for when you have a short amount of time to squeeze a workout in. Most home exercises require little to no equipment to do. Ideas for home workouts are easily accessible through various social media accounts, YouTube, and smart phone apps.
The most important thing to remember, is to choose something you truly enjoy doing!

This week we are featuring Michael Zamora, one of our Urgent Care providers! He believes being a lifelong learner is essential to leading a healthy life. He tries to read or learn something new everyday! When discussing health, we can't forget the importance of challenging ourselves to learn.
One great way to get your children passionate about reading is turning it into a fun experience. Don't be afraid to grab a good book, and head to the park with your family for an hour of reading! If the fall air gets too chilly to enjoy a day of reading outdoors, you can stop by the E.P. Foster Library. They have a large selection of books, and plenty of programs for children. One of our favorites is happening this Saturday, October 14th from 12:00pm - 1:00pm. During this program children can read to registered therapy dogs! If you are interested in learning more about this program or programs like this please visit: https://www.vencolibrary.org/events?page=1

This week’s Tips for Healthy Living is all about FOOD! Eating healthy, nutritious meals doesn’t have to be hard. There are plenty of resources available that have quick, delicious, and affordable recipes. A few of our favorite sites are The American Heart Association: https://recipes.heart.org/ and Whole Foods: http://www.wholefoodsmarket.com/recipe/search/

The meal plans are great for those who have a very busy life and want to take the guess work out of wondering what to make for dinner. You can even cook your meals in advance so they are ready to go the next day! In addition to their meal plans they also feature almost 4,000 amazing recipes!

Happy Friday! We hope you all enjoy your weekend! In order to kick off the weekend ahead we wanted to share a wonderful resource to get fresh fruits and vegetables every week! Are you having a barbecue to celebrate the return of the wonderful California weather we all love? Then make sure to pick up your fresh produce from the Farmers Market! Ventura is home to two great Farmer’s Markets that take place on separate days to give the community more access to pick up fresh groceries direct from responsible family farmers.
The Downtown Ventura Certified Farmers’ Market is the original Ventura County certified farmers’ market and has been operating continuously since 1986. Over 45 California farmers and food vendors attend weekly and the market operates year-round. Located in the heart of downtown every Saturday morning rain or shine at Corner of Santa Clara and Palm Streets.
The Midtown Ventura location has been open since 1989 and was the second certified farmers’ market opened in Ventura County and offers access to over 25 California farmers and food vendors each week. Come visit this location every Wednesday at the Pacific View Mall West Parking Lot.
